Make new friends. \nQuantum 1.0 technologies\, such as the transistor and laser\, have transformed society. \nWe are now entering the Quantum 2.0 age that promises to have a similarly large societal impact and accelerate our transition to an information-based economy. In the Quantum 2.0 future\, quantum computers will solve intractable problems\, quantum communication will be secure against an attack from a quantum computer\, and quantum sensors will reveal nature with exquisite sensitivity. \nWe are currently in the hype cycle of Quantum 2.0\, with billions of dollars invested by companies and governments. Yet\, the State of Ohio does not yet have many participants in the Quantum 2.0 ecosystem. \nIn this TIGER Talk\, Daniel Gauthier will give a brief overview of the promise of this quantum revolution\, why there is so much excitement\, and leave plenty of time to brainstorm about increasing local participation. \n*************** \nDaniel Gauthier is a Professor of Physics at The Ohio State University and a co-founder of ResCon Technologies commercializing his research on classical machine learning. He has ongoing projects on space- and drone-based quantum communication and quantum machine learning through his university research.
