SUMMARY:CES 2023: What "Human Security For All" Means for Today's Business Leaders
DESCRIPTION:Hybrid Format\nWed Feb 8\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm\nPlease register by 7 pm\, Feb 7. Select either “In-Person” or “Virtual via Zoom.” \nOn the evening of Feb 7\, we’ll send a reminder email (w/ Zoom link) to all registered. \n*************** \nFrom our TIGER Talk presenter\, Brad Griffith of Buckeye Innovation: \n“Our customers\, employees\, and shareholders are humans\, contrary to how we sometimes treat them! \nRather than treating them impersonally\, like users\, resources\, or even robots\, we have an opportunity to recognize their humanity and address their innate need for security. The Consumer Technology Association set a theme for the 2023 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that encouraged exhibitors\, presenters\, and attendees to meet that human need for security. \nPlease join me to learn the consumer technologies that will disrupt all of our industries over the next decade and how we can apply technology creatively to improve equity\, access\, and belonging for all. From the Metaverse and blockchain to smart devices of every sort\, I’ve seen some serious disruptive technology. \nCES 2023 saw a big resurgence in exhibitors and attendees\, marking a significant recovery from 2022. I attended virtually again this year with more comprehensive remote access to sessions than in any previous year. I will share highlights and lessons from the best keynotes and panel discussions as well as will review the practicality of several intriguing gadgets. \nMy favorite author\, Clayton Christensen\, said it well when he said\, “You may hate gravity\, but gravity doesn’t care.” Much like COVID variants\, technology keeps changing. It’s a force we all deal with\, and it’s important that we learn to predict some of the changes\, prepare for what we can\, and then expect the unexpected. \nJoin me to hear about what industry titans and startup entrepreneurs know to be the trends and strategies that will shape our future work and personal lives. \nFor the past 15 years\, I have loved attending the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas because it’s my opportunity to absorb trajectory-altering lessons and insights from industry experts and thought leaders. These insights have changed the way I approach business strategy and have enhanced many aspects of the way I live my life. Traditionally the largest technology trade show in the world\, this year’s third digital CES conference and trade show were different but still captivating. Next year I hope to return in person. \nIf you are a strategic thinker leading a team into a potentially volatile future\, this talk is a must. I promise to share quotes\, trends\, and transformational lessons that will help prepare you for the next evolutionary and revolutionary changes in your company.“ \n*************** \nBrad Griffith is a lifelong entrepreneur. He grew up working for his dad’s veterinary hospital\, learning the joys and challenges of business ownership. He believes in the power of entrepreneurship and innovation to drive meaningful change in our community. Brad is now President of Buckeye Innovation\, the web strategy and engineering team he founded in 2009 to amplify the impact of innovative businesses and organizations through exceptional web engineering and design. His team of 16 includes designers and developers who love building and supporting websites\, web applications\, and mobile applications. Buckeye’s clients span many industries and include tech startups\, libraries\, and local and county governments among others. \nPrior to starting Buckeye Innovation\, Brad spent several years consulting and developing web applications in-house for a variety of companies including JP Morgan Chase\, QUALCOMM\, and the Go Big Network. He earned his Masters in Business Administration after completing his Bachelor’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering with honors\, both at The Ohio State University. Brad has more than 28 years of web development experience and has worked from coast to coast with small and large companies\, educational institutions\, non-profit organizations\, and government agencies to build innovative web solutions. He lives in New Albany with his wife and two young daughters. He is an active Girl Scouts “Troop Cookie Dad” in addition to other community volunteer roles. \nBrad was selected in 2020 to the inaugural class of the Columbus CEO Future 50. Buckeye Innovation was recognized in the 2022 Inc5000 as one of the country’s fastest growing private companies. Brad was also selected as a finalist for the 2023 Small Business Leader Award from the Columbus Chamber of Commerce\, his second time as a finalist. \n*************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nHybrid Format – Event Timeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch & Socializing (In-Person Participants) \n11:45 am – Connect via Zoom (Virtual Participants) \n11:50 am – Introduce Yourself to All (In-Person & Virtual Participants) \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to Brad \n1:00 pm – Wrap \n[expire-content date=”2023-02-08 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]Oops! SUMMARY:Cash Flow and Value Creation
DESCRIPTION:FRIDAY 2/17/23\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nNOTE: This event will be IN-PERSON at Innovate New Albany (8000 Walton Pkwy\, Suite 200\, New Albany\, OH 43054) \nPlease come ready to interact with our presenter and your fellow participants. \nAnd\, please arrive at 11:30 am. Enjoy lunch. Mingle. Make new friends! \n*************** \nIn this TIGER Talk\, Eric Rucinski discusses cash flow and value creation in the context of critical business decisions\, including those involving:\n• Entire companies and divisions\n• New product lines and markets\n• Initiatives and investments\n• Mergers and acquisitions (buy / sell decisions) \nMr. Rucinski describes the inherent deficiencies in relying solely on accounting information\, and the unique benefits of higher-powered financial analysis. Going far beyond mere accounting (which is necessary\, but not sufficient\, for informed decision-making)\, he discusses cash flow and value creation in a comprehensive manner\, synthesizing strategic\, financial\, and economic analyses and insights. Mr. Rucinski uses easily-understood analogues (e.g.\, buying a house) to provide a powerful\, memorable framework for thinking about and improving complex business decisions. \nParticipants will leave with an enhanced understanding of cash flow\, what drives it\, why it is fundamental to value creation\, and how it differs from often-used (but highly-flawed) metrics like EBITDA. \nParticipants will also gain a deeper appreciation for the importance and unique benefits of in-depth\, fact-based financial analysis in making a wide range of high-dollar\, high-impact\, high-emotion decisions related to both their day-to-day operations and long-term term strategic objectives. \nAnd\, participants will be empowered to ask key questions of their employees and advisors that they previously never considered or knew how to articulate\, to resist the urge to accept superficial information and conclusions\, and to create and maintain a focus on value creation. \n*************** \nEric Rucinski is Founder and Principal of Advanta Consulting LLC\, an independent consulting firm that focuses on strategy\, corporate development\, growth initiatives\, M&A\, financial modeling / valuation\, investment decisions\, capital structure\, and special projects. He is a trusted senior adviser to top executives (including CEOs at public and private companies) and owners (including high-net-worth individuals and families). His 20+ years of experience includes high-impact full-time strategy\, corporate development\, and M&A roles at The Wendy’s Company\, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company\, Limited Brands\, Borden Capital (private equity)\, and Salomon Smith Barney (Wall Street investment banking). \n*************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nTimeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch & socializing \n11:50 am – Guests introduce themselves to our in-person crowd \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to Eric \n1:00 pm – Wrap \n[expire-content date=”2023-02-17 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]Oops! SUMMARY:6 Power Habits of Entrepreneurial Leaders
DESCRIPTION:FRIDAY 2/24/23\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nIN-PERSON at Innovate New Albany (8000 Walton Pkwy\, Suite 200\, New Albany\, OH 43054) \nCome ready to interact with our presenter and your fellow participants. \nAnd\, please arrive at 11:30 am. Enjoy lunch. Mingle. Make new friends! \n*************** \nOur TIGER Talk speaker Jon Iveson offers the following description: \nWikipedia states that “an entrepreneur is an individual who creates and/or invests in one or more businesses\, bearing most of the risks and enjoying most of the rewards. The process of setting up a business is known as entrepreneurship.” \nJim Collins\, author of the influential books Good to Great & Built to Last\, defines leadership as “the art of getting people to want to do what must be done.” As such\, “the number one responsibility of a leader – is to catalyze a clear and shared vision for the company and to secure commitment to and vigorous pursuit of that vision.” \nBased on my learnings as the Founding Director of the Ohio State Fisher College Center for Entrepreneurship and my subsequent 18 years coaching small and mid-size growth companies\, it appears that entrepreneurial leadership seems to emerge in enterprises when the founding entrepreneur shifts from the ”leader with many helpers” mindset to the chief executive mindset where he/she must build an “A” player leadership team capable of driving the strategic execution that will move the company to being a substantial commercial and societal impact. \nWe will discuss the 6 Power Habits that must be mastered to lead an enterprise on a sustainable successful journey. \n*************** \nJon Iveson is a Strategic Execution Coach with Assured Strategy. \nJon has been coaching entrepreneurs\, executives\, and leadership teams to deliver superior results and have distinctive impact for over 18 years. Prior to that\, Jon coached leaders\, managers\, and aspiring entrepreneurs as the Founding Director of the Fisher College of Business Center for Entrepreneurship. He has many client case studies and testimonials from those 18 years that prove his profound value to clients in driving strategy\, alignment\, execution\, and accountability. \nJon has worked with clients in a variety of industries. His progressive degrees in engineering and management systems from Clarkson University and education at The Ohio State University provides him with a unique understanding and influence regarding the psychology of team dynamics\, team learning\, team alignment\, team accountability\, team productivity\, and team growth. \nDuring his long career as a coach\, Jon has helped client companies in fabrication\, manufacturing\, landscaping\, aviation\, healthcare\, education\, entertainment\, software\, banking\, housing\, marketing\, HVAC\, electrical\, lighting\, language translation\, financial services\, contact center\, IT services\, and the print services industries. His long-term purpose in life is to activate leadership passions\, styles\, and skills to do great things. \nJon has been certified in coaching through Franklin Covey\, Scaling Up (previously known as Gazelles)\, Value Builder\, Gravitas Impact\, and Metronome United (i.e. 3HAG and Metronomics). \nJon’s specialties include: \n\nLeadership and Management Team Alignment\, Health\, Accountability\, and Performance\nHealthy Constructive Conflict Facilitation\nStrategic Thinking\nExecution Excellence\nLeadership Development\, Growth\, and Resilience\nStrategic Execution\nAdvance Insights Assessment Expertise and Coaching\nExecutive Coaching\nPublic Speaking\nWorkshop Facilitation\nPeer Group Coaching and Facilitation\n\nAs a spiritually inspired father\, Jon is very engaged with his 17-year-old daughter and her activities. Jon also enjoys biking\, hiking\, and golf to stay physically\, mentally\, emotionally\, and spiritually engaged outside of his coaching work. \n*************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nTimeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch & socializing \n11:50 am – Guests introduce themselves to our in-person crowd \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to Jon \n1:00 pm – Wrap \n[expire-content date=”2023-02-24 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]Oops!
