The presence of data centers in Central Ohio has helped pave the way for the many other high-tech facilities and jobs that are now coming to the area. \nOur AWS presenters\, Rocale Timmons and Nick Lee-Romagnolo\, will be sharing insights on AWS’s local and regional impact in Ohio and the way AWS thinks about workforce development in its infrastructure regions . SUMMARY:Humanizing Work
DESCRIPTION:FRI 5/26/23\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nIN-PERSON at Innovate New Albany\, 8000 Walton Pkwy\, Suite 200\, New Albany\, OH 43054 \nBe ready to interact with our presenters and your fellow participants. \nAnd\, please arrive at 11:30 am. Enjoy lunch. Mingle. Make new friends. \nIs your favorite flavor of Agile work methodology resulting in process over people?\nIs your contribution mired in man hours that inevitably turn into mythical man months?\nAre human efforts in heroic zeros and ones measured in seemingly pointless (story) points instead of customer\, business\, and employee value (ROI)? \nWhat began as a technology revolution has devolved into frameworks and processes that focus solely on mindless over mindful measuring\, tracking\, and projecting. And while many organizations find initial success that generates interest and demand for scaling agile and digital transformations\, even more common is the ultimate disappointment in not achieving the desired outcomes promised by even the most well-intentioned technologists. \nPlease join Jariatu Mansaray and Charlotte Chang for this TIGER Talk and you’ll learn that all is NOT lost. \nIf we just look to our past we find evidence of achieving the outcomes we hope to see in our futures\, both for organizations and as individuals. In today’s business landscape modern work is often misunderstood\, applying archaic approaches and mandating standards based on a world that no longer exists. To effectively navigate where it’s going\, being ready requires the often undervalued human skills of observation\, adaptation\, and evolution. \n*************** \nJariatu Mansaray is a people-focused product coach at Industrial Logic with a passion for empowering teams and driving results. She specializes in process operations and change facilitation among dynamic organizations. As a Co-Founder and the Executive Director of Black Tech Columbus\, she is focused on creating community and job and career advancement opportunities for minorities in the Central Ohio technology community. As an agile coach and product consultant with a background in chemical engineering and trauma-informed counseling\, Jariatu began her career in technology focused on finding and implementing outside-of-the-box solutions for organizations of all sizes. From training startups in cloud technology to managing cybersecurity programs for one of the country’s largest financial institutions\, she is focused on using Agile methodologies to ensure effective outcomes. When she isn’t working\, she spends her time trying new restaurants and traveling with family and friends. \nCharlotte Chang is an Experience Director with nearly 20 years of experience in technology and product strategy. She enjoys working with executives\, managers\, and teams to create Systems of Compassion that provide a sustainable\, humane\, inclusive experience for all contributors throughout product development. Recently\, her experience has focused on launching new products\, marketing and brand management\, and designing change within organizations. Previously\, she has worked with companies across multiple countries\, industries\, and company sizes\, performing every role on a delivery team: iteration manager\, product designer\, user experience\, business analyst\, developer\, and tester. Learn more at Charlotte’s website\, The Passionate Pragmatist. \nAnd\, OK … time for two truths and a lie: Charlotte’s work was featured in the New York Times\, Charlotte has two cats\, or Charlotte enjoys a quality high five. Come to this session to discover the truth! \n*************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nTimeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch / Socializing \n11:50 am – Introduce yourself to all fellow participants (your “best 20 seconds”) \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to Jariatu & Charlotte \n1:00 pm – Wrap / T-Shirt Drawing / More Socializing \n[expire-content date=”2023-05-26 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Company*Consent to Use My Image & Voice*By registering for & participating in this event\, I am consenting to the recording of my image and/or voice. SUMMARY:Why Focusing Solely on Revenue May Be Killing Your Company
DESCRIPTION:WED 9/6/23\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nIN-PERSON at Innovate New Albany\, 8000 Walton Pkwy\, Suite 200\, New Albany\, OH 43054 \nBe ready to interact with our presenters and your fellow participants. \nPlease arrive at 11:30 am. Enjoy lunch. Mingle. Make new friends. \nBusiness owners understand the importance of revenue and sales in growing their business. It’s fun to watch your business thrive\, but what about your company’s infrastructure? \nHave you ever thought: “Hey\, we’re growing! We’ll focus on that boring operational stuff later.”? It can be put off for only so long before you’re forced to face it. And\, it usually happens in the form of an expensive\, disruptive “OH\, NO!” moment. \nThat moment could be:\n• Needing to scale up to deliver on a new contract\n• Needing money to expand or even just to make payroll\n• Your best employees start jumping ship\n• Being sued by a former employee or a customer\n• Getting a letter from a government agency\, etc. \nIt doesn’t have to be bad news\, but it usually is unexpected. \nIn this TIGER Talk\, Diana Dibble and Molly Gimmel will make the often-tedious topic of business operations accessible and fun. Their in-the-trenches expertise will help you understand the infrastructure and other essentials that will keep you in business and thriving for the long haul. \n*************** \nDiana Dibble is the CEO of Tripod Coaching & Consulting LLC™\, which opened in 2022. It was founded from her passion for business operations\, which she has been doing for decades. Tripod provides business operations services\, and they are experts in Planning for the “What If”™. Throughout her career\, Diana has found that revenue generating activities are usually a business’ priority. However\, focusing solely on revenue may be killing the company. That’s where Tripod comes in. They are really good at what they do\, and they make biz ops fun… or at least more fun. \nIn addition to Tripod\, Diana is President/Co-Founder of Design To Delivery Inc (D2DInc). D2DInc is a government contracting firm founded in 2001. They provide acquisition and program management support services to US federal civilian and defense agencies. In addition\, D2DInc recently launched the Small Business Superstore as a new line of business to resell products to the federal government. \nThroughout her career\, Diana has been recognized with local and national industry awards including the Enterprising Women’s 2020 Enterprising Women of the Year award\, the 2022 National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Woman Business Owner of the Year award as a top 3 finalist\, and the NAWBO Greater DC Chapter 2023 Entrepreneur of the Year award as a top 3 finalist. D2DInc has also received numerous awards since its founding including being recognized on Inc Magazine’s INC5000 list of the fastest growing US privately held firms for 4 consecutive years. \n*************** \nMolly Gimmel is CEO/Co-Founder of Design To Delivery Inc (D2DInc)\, an award-winning firm that provides program and acquisition management support services to Federal government agencies. Molly has been working in the field of government contract and acquisition management since 1991. Before co-founding D2DInc in 2001\, she spent eight years working in the government practices of three of the “Big Five” accounting/consulting firms. D2DInc appeared four times on the Inc 5000 list of fastest growing privately held companies in the US\, from 2014 thru 2017. D2DInc was ranked #32 on the Women Presidents Organization’s list of Fastest Growing Women Owned Companies in 2016. \nIn 2021\, Molly founded the Vellamo Leadership Institute to bring together like-minded individuals who strive to grow as leaders. She believes that fostering a network of support empowers people to expand their influence and enjoy rewarding careers. \nMolly is the author of Master Your Mindset: How Women Leaders Step Up published in April 2022. In this book\, she explores the unwritten rules of successful female leadership. Through interviews with powerful women from all walks of life—large corporations\, small businesses\, non-profits\, Hollywood\, politics\, and more — Gimmel reveals the mental attitudes that define effective leaders. Filled with personal stories\, humor\, and profound insights from the trenches\, Master Your Mindset shows you step by step how to connect with yourself and with those around you in authenticity\, confidence\, and integrity to become the best leader you can be. \nMolly holds a Masters of Science in Contract & Acquisition Management from Florida Institute of Technology\, and a Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing from the College of William & Mary. She has a Graduate Certificate in Leadership from the UC Davis Graduate School of Management. \n*************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nTimeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch / Socializing \n11:50 am – Introduce yourself to our crowd (your “best 20 seconds”) \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to Diana & Molly \n1:00 pm – Wrap / More Socializing \n[expire-content date=”2023-09-06 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Company*Consent to Use My Image & Voice*By registering for & participating in this event\, I am consenting to the recording of my image and/or voice. SUMMARY:25 Amazing Innovators & a Liberal Arts Major Walk Into a Bar: Lessons on Leadership & Growth from "Innovation on Tap"
DESCRIPTION:WED 10/4/23\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nHYBRID Event: When you register\, select “In-Person” or “Zoom.”  \nEither Way: Be ready to interact with our presenter\, Eric Schultz\, and your fellow participants. \nIn-Person: Arrive at 11:30 am. Zoom: Log in at 11:45 am. Everyone: mingle & make new friends. \nPull up a barstool and settle in for an hour of conversation about innovation and leadership as told by 25 highly accomplished entrepreneurs — living and dead — gathered in a virtual barroom. Eric Schultz sketches the history of American innovation in his latest book\, Innovation on Tap: Stories of Entrepreneurship From the Cotton Gin to Broadway’s Hamilton.  \nFor this TIGER Talk\, Eric will choose a handful of stories from the book — including a look at how community played a critical role in creating Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton — with takeaways that you can apply immediately to your start-up or innovation project. \n“Think of business history as one giant laboratory\,” Schultz says. “None of the experiments can be replicated exactly\, but many can provide valuable insights into your current innovation and entrepreneurial challenges.” \n*************** \nEric Schultz earned his BA Degree in History at Brown University and might have spent a career in the ivory tower of academia\, but wandered into a GMAT test one Saturday and ended up with an MBA from the Harvard Business School. \nConsequently\, he devoted his career to leading high-growth technology businesses\, including as CEO of Sensitech\, a venture-backed “supply chain visibility company\,” which was ultimately acquired by Carrier Corporation. \nIn addition to authoring Innovation on Tap\, Schultz is co-author of Food Foolish: The Hidden Connection Between Food Waste\, Hunger\, and Climate and King Philip’s War: The History and Legacy of America’s Forgotten Conflict. \nSchultz lives surrounded by STEM professionals\, including a father\, wife\, and daughter who are all engineers\, but he has always found ways to mix history and business. He remains convinced that liberal arts majors are essential players in the global innovation community! \n*************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nTimeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch / Socializing \n11:50 am – Introduce yourself to fellow participants (your “best 15 seconds”) \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to Eric \n1:00 pm – Wrap / More Socializing \n[expire-content date=”2023-10-04 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]Oops! SUMMARY:The Climate Economy : Trillions Are at Stake & China is Winning. Are You Ready?
DESCRIPTION:FRI 1/19/24\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nBe ready to meet our session leader\, Kevin Mireles\, and your fellow participants. \nPlease arrive at 11:30 am. Eat. Mingle. Make new friends. \nJoin us for this important TIGER Talk! \nToday\, the US is the #1 global player in the legacy fossil-fuel economy. \nIts position is similar to IBM’s in the computing marketplace of the 1980s. IBM dazzled with record profits in 1990\, but just three years later\, it posted the biggest loss in US history\, as PCs moved from the market’s fringe to front-and-center! \nIn today’s energy economy\, China is positioned like Microsoft was in the 1990 computing market. China is way ahead of the US in the smaller but rapidly expanding low-carbon technologies that will dominate the decades ahead. And\, like IBM in 1990\, key sectors of the US economy are facing big threats today as the world rapidly transitions to cleaner technologies. \nSustainability is no longer a fringe thing. Instead\, it’s becoming critical to staying competitive in our rapidly-changing world. Fortunately\, hundreds of billions of dollars in public and private funds are available to help us make the transition. \nThe catch? You must know where to look and what to ask for. But who has time to invest in figuring out how to remake your business and/or your community in this cauldron of change? \nTo fill this gap\, our presenter\, Kevin Mireles\, will share:\n Key trends shaping the future of sustainable energy markets \n Why China’s clean-economy positions it to dominate the future global economic order. \n What California gets right\, and what Ohio needs to do to compete \n New sources of funding \n How to integrate sustainability into your product development and corporate strategy – to help your profits and our planet \n Why it’s critical that we create industry-specific clean economic-development strategies \nA world-changing economic tsunami is coming. Join Kevin to learn how we can surf it\, and not get crushed by it! \n*************** \nKevin Mireles helps organizations design\, market\, and sell more profitable and sustainable solutions. \nKevin is former journalist\, passionate about helping communities and companies embrace sustainability and diversity to drive growth and profitability. \nKevin has:\n Brought over a dozen products to market for garage startups and Fortune 50 companies\, generating at least $120M in revenue and $90M in cost-savings. \nDeveloped the Minimum Viable Replacement Framework to help organizations transition from legacy platforms after leading a $20M global modernization initiative. \n Published over 500 articles and been featured in multiple podcasts. \n Created www.CutCO2.net to help supply-chain professionals cut their costs and environmental impact. \nKevin currently helps organizations reduce their carbon footprint and improve profits by helping optimize their supply chain\, modernize systems\, and develop new\, less-polluting strategies and products. \nKevin invites you connect with him on LinkedIn and sign up for Lean and Green\, his profitability and sustainability newsletter\, at https://leanandgreen.beehiiv.com/subscribe \n*************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nTimeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch / Socializing \n11:50 am – Introduce yourself to our crowd (your “15 Seconds of Fame”) \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to Kevin \n1:00 pm – Wrap / More Socializing \n[expire-content date=”2024-01-19 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Company*Consent to Use My Image & Voice*By registering for & participating in this event\, I am consenting to the recording of my image and/or voice.
