SUMMARY:The Climate Economy : Trillions Are at Stake & China is Winning. Are You Ready?
DESCRIPTION:FRI 1/19/24\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nBe ready to meet our session leader\, Kevin Mireles\, and your fellow participants. \nPlease arrive at 11:30 am. Eat. Mingle. Make new friends. \nJoin us for this important TIGER Talk! \nToday\, the US is the #1 global player in the legacy fossil-fuel economy. \nIts position is similar to IBM’s in the computing marketplace of the 1980s. IBM dazzled with record profits in 1990\, but just three years later\, it posted the biggest loss in US history\, as PCs moved from the market’s fringe to front-and-center! \nIn today’s energy economy\, China is positioned like Microsoft was in the 1990 computing market. China is way ahead of the US in the smaller but rapidly expanding low-carbon technologies that will dominate the decades ahead. And\, like IBM in 1990\, key sectors of the US economy are facing big threats today as the world rapidly transitions to cleaner technologies. \nSustainability is no longer a fringe thing. Instead\, it’s becoming critical to staying competitive in our rapidly-changing world. Fortunately\, hundreds of billions of dollars in public and private funds are available to help us make the transition. \nThe catch? You must know where to look and what to ask for. But who has time to invest in figuring out how to remake your business and/or your community in this cauldron of change? \nTo fill this gap\, our presenter\, Kevin Mireles\, will share:\n Key trends shaping the future of sustainable energy markets \n Why China’s clean-economy positions it to dominate the future global economic order. \n What California gets right\, and what Ohio needs to do to compete \n New sources of funding \n How to integrate sustainability into your product development and corporate strategy – to help your profits and our planet \n Why it’s critical that we create industry-specific clean economic-development strategies \nA world-changing economic tsunami is coming. Join Kevin to learn how we can surf it\, and not get crushed by it! \n*************** \nKevin Mireles helps organizations design\, market\, and sell more profitable and sustainable solutions. \nKevin is former journalist\, passionate about helping communities and companies embrace sustainability and diversity to drive growth and profitability. \nKevin has:\n Brought over a dozen products to market for garage startups and Fortune 50 companies\, generating at least $120M in revenue and $90M in cost-savings. \nDeveloped the Minimum Viable Replacement Framework to help organizations transition from legacy platforms after leading a $20M global modernization initiative. \n Published over 500 articles and been featured in multiple podcasts. \n Created www.CutCO2.net to help supply-chain professionals cut their costs and environmental impact. \nKevin currently helps organizations reduce their carbon footprint and improve profits by helping optimize their supply chain\, modernize systems\, and develop new\, less-polluting strategies and products. \nKevin invites you connect with him on LinkedIn and sign up for Lean and Green\, his profitability and sustainability newsletter\, at https://leanandgreen.beehiiv.com/subscribe \n*************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nTimeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch / Socializing \n11:50 am – Introduce yourself to our crowd (your “15 Seconds of Fame”) \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to Kevin \n1:00 pm – Wrap / More Socializing \n[expire-content date=”2024-01-19 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Company*Consent to Use My Image & Voice*By registering for & participating in this event\, I am consenting to the recording of my image and/or voice. SUMMARY:What is the JobsOhio Growth Capital Fund?
DESCRIPTION:WED 1/24/24\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nBe ready to meet our session leader\, Frank Geib\, and your fellow participants. \nPlease arrive at 11:30 am. Eat. Mingle. Make new friends. \nThe JobsOhio Growth Capital Fund (JOGC) is the venture arm for Ohio’s private economic development organization\, JobsOhio. \nJOGC is a co-investment fund that invests in early stage companies who are Ohio-based or planning to locate a significant presence in Ohio\, with over 70 companies in the portfolio thus far. \nCome learn about JOGC’s origins during the pandemic\, its progress to date\, and its processes for investment decisions. At JOGC\, Frank is nicknamed the ‘Cap Table Captain\,’ so\, appropriately enough\, he will be discussing important cap table considerations for entrepreneurs while also overviewing startup and venture fund modeling in Excel\, showing how it helps his team make better informed investments! \n*************** \nOur session leader\, Frank Geib\, is a proud life-long Ohioan\, raised in the Cleveland area before he earned his Bachelor Degree at The Ohio State University\, where he majored in Finance while minoring in Engineering Sciences. Frank also earned his MBA at OSU’s Fisher College of Business before joining the JobsOhio Growth Capital team in 2022 as the Venture Analyst . \nFrank supports all areas of the fund’s operations\, with a heavy focus on the analytical aspects behind investment opportunities. SUMMARY:Three Moves by Google that Require You to Act Today
DESCRIPTION:FRI 1/26/24\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nBe ready to meet our session leader\, Bill Balderaz\, and your fellow participants. \nPlease arrive at 11:30 am. Eat. Mingle. Make new friends. \nThree recent decisions by Google are disrupting organizations and creating an urgent need for action. \nFirst\, Google is deleting all Google Analytics data pre-2023\, meaning we all lose access to historical web site data starting July of 2024. This also means that any organization with a data retention policy will be out of compliance as of July 2024. \nSecond\, online advertisers will lose the ability to retarget ads using third-party cookies in 2024 as Google Chrome begins blocking cookies. This means ad performance will likely suffer dramatically in 2024. \nThird\, Google remains in conflict with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) over HIPAA guidelines. According to a recent study\, 99% of hospital websites are out of compliance with HIPAA. If you work in healthcare\, your legal liability for HIPAA violations is measured in millions of dollars. \nOur expert presenter\, Bill Balderaz\, will explain all of these Google actions in simple\, easy-to-understand terms and offer solutions to protect your organization and give you a foundation for sustainable success. \n*************** \nBill Balderaz is the President and Founder of Inc. 5000 company Futurety\, a data analytics and marketing consulting firm. \nFuturety specializes in serving regulated industries\, including healthcare\, pharma\, finance\, government and medical devices. \nBill has spoken at more than 150 conferences from New York to California on topics including public relations\, sales\, innovation\, marketing\, healthcare\, search engine optimization\, data mining\, social media\, and more. He’s also been featured in over 100 media outlets\, including The Wall Street Journal\, Money Magazine\, and NPR. \n*************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nTimeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch / Socializing \n11:50 am – Introduce yourself to our crowd (your “15 Seconds of Fame”) \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to Bill \n1:00 pm – Wrap / More Socializing \n[expire-content date=”2024-01-26 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Company*Consent to Use My Image & Voice*By registering for & participating in this event\, I am consenting to the recording of my image and/or voice. SUMMARY:CES 2024: Leading an "ALL ON" Technology Business and Life with Intention
DESCRIPTION:FRI 2/9/24\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nBe ready to meet our session leader\, Brad Griffith\, and your fellow participants. \nPlease arrive at 11:30 am. Eat. Mingle. Make new friends. \nPersonal statement from our presenter\, Brad Griffith:\n2024 is my first year back at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in person after the pandemic\, and I anticipate big crowds. Attendance and company participation are expected to return to “normal” with over 2.4 Million square feet of exhibit space and likely 250\,000 attendees converging on Las Vegas during January 2024. \nTechnology is inescapable\, for better or for worse. The Consumer Technology Association set a theme for CES 2024 of “ALL ON” to emphasize that technology is everywhere all the time. They encourage exhibitors\, presenters\, and attendees to define what it means to be “All Together. All in. ALL ON.” \nJoin me for my recap and analysis to hear about what industry titans and startup entrepreneurs know to be the trends and strategies that will shape our future work and personal lives. Learn what consumer technology will try to distract you and disrupt all of our industries over the next decade. Let’s discuss how we can apply technology creatively to improve focus and quality of life. From generative AI and robotics to mindfulness and quantified self\, I’m sure to see some seriously disruptive technology. \nI feel it’s our job as a business community to get intentional about our technology usage. Do we let it consume our lives\, or do we use it to enrich our lives through better focus on what really matters to us. I intend to gather the best and worst of modern consumer technology at this year’s show for us to discuss on February 9. \nFor the past nearly 20 years\, I have loved attending the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas because it’s my opportunity to absorb trajectory-altering lessons and insights from industry experts and thought leaders. These insights have changed the way I approach business strategy and have enhanced many aspects of the way I live my life. This is the largest technology trade show in the world. It’s a sight to behold for tech enthusiasts and early adopters! \nIf you are a strategic thinker leading a team into a potentially volatile future\, this talk is a must! I promise to share quotes\, trends\, and transformational lessons that will help prepare you for the next evolutionary and revolutionary changes in your company. \nTo be present in an “ALL ON” world\, you won’t want to miss what I will be sharing with you. \n*************** \nBrad Griffith is a champion for equitable access to the best technology and design for growing businesses and organizations. He grew up working for his dad’s veterinary hospital\, learning the joys and challenges of business growth. He believes in the power of entrepreneurship and innovation to drive meaningful change in our community\, though unfortunately\, not all people in the workforce or all growing organizations have the same opportunities to leverage technology to their advantage. Brad is on a mission to change that with equitable access for all. \nBrad is President of Buckeye Innovation\, the web engineering and design team he started in 2009 to amplify the impact of innovative businesses and organizations. His fully-remote in-house team of 18 employees includes designers and developers who love building and supporting websites\, web applications\, and mobile applications. Their clients span many industries and include tech startups\, libraries\, and local and county governments among others. \nPrior to starting Buckeye Innovation\, Brad spent several years consulting and developing web applications in-house for a variety of companies including JPMorgan Chase\, QUALCOMM\, and the Go Big Network. He earned his Masters in Business Administration after completing his Bachelor’s in Electrical and Computer Engineering with honors\, both at The Ohio State University. He lives in New Albany with his wife and two young daughters where he is an active Girl Scouts “Troop Cookie Dad” in addition to other community volunteer roles. \nBrad was selected in 2020 to the inaugural class of the Columbus CEO Future 50 and was also a finalist for the 2019 and 2023 Small Business Leader Awards from the Columbus Chamber of Commerce. Buckeye Innovation was recognized in the 2022 and 2023 Inc 5000 as one of the country’s fastest growing private companies and in 2023 was selected as one of Inc’s Best Workplaces. \n*************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nTimeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch / Socializing \n11:50 am – Introduce yourself to our crowd (your “15 Seconds of Fame”) \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to Brad \n1:00 pm – Wrap / More Socializing \n[expire-content date=”2024-02-09 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Company*Consent to Use My Image & Voice*By registering for & participating in this event\, I am consenting to the recording of my image and/or voice. SUMMARY:Cash Flow and Value Creation
DESCRIPTION:FRI 2/16/24\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nBe ready to meet our session leader\, Eric Rucinski\, and your fellow participants. \nPlease arrive at 11:30 am. Eat. Mingle. Make new friends. \nIn this TIGER Talk\, Eric Rucinski will describe the inherent deficiencies in relying solely on accounting information\, and the unique benefits of higher-powered financial analysis. \nGoing far beyond mere accounting (which is necessary\, but not sufficient\, for informed decision-making)\, Eric will discuss cash flow and value creation in a comprehensive manner\, synthesizing strategic\, financial\, and economic analyses and insights. He uses easily-understood analogues (e.g.\, buying a house) to provide a powerful\, memorable framework for thinking about and improving complex business decisions. \nParticipants will leave with an enhanced understanding of cash flow\, what drives it\, why it is fundamental to value creation\, and how it differs from often-used (but highly-flawed) metrics like EBITDA. They will leave with a deep appreciation for the importance and unique benefits of in-depth\, fact-based financial analysis in making a wide range of high-dollar\, high-impact\, high-emotion decisions related to both their day-to-day operations and long-term term strategic objectives. They’ll be empowered to ask key questions of their employees and advisors that they previously never considered or did not know how to articulate. And\, finally\, they’ll be equipped to reject superficial information and conclusions\, and instead give their companies a consistent focus on value creation! \n*************** \nEric Rucinski is Founder and Principal of Advanta Consulting LLC\, an independent consulting firm that focuses on strategy\, corporate development\, growth initiatives\, M&A\, financial modeling / valuation\, investment decisions\, capital structure\, and special projects. He is a trusted senior adviser to top executives (including CEOs at public and private companies) and owners (including high-net-worth individuals and families). \nEric’s 25+ years of experience includes high-impact full-time roles in strategy\, corporate development\, and M&A at The Wendy’s Company\, The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company\, Limited Brands\, Borden Capital (private equity)\, and Salomon Smith Barney (Wall Street investment banking). \n************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nTimeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch / Socializing \n11:50 am – Introduce yourself to our crowd (your “15 Seconds of Fame”) \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to Eric \n1:00 pm – Wrap / More Socializing \n[expire-content date=”2024-02-16 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Company*Consent to Use My Image & Voice*By registering for & participating in this event\, I am consenting to the recording of my image and/or voice. SUMMARY:How College Grads With Sustainability Education Add Big Value to Your Business
DESCRIPTION:NEW LOCATION: 7775 Walton Pkwy\, 3rd Floor\, New Albany\, OH 43054\nFRI 3/22/24\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nBe ready to interact with our featured speaker\, Neil Drobny\, and your fellow participants. \nPlease arrive at 11:30 am. Eat. Mingle. Make new friends. \nNeil Drobny\, PhD\, will discuss a new sustainability initiative that he introduced at Western Michigan University — the Bronco Challenge for Sustainable Impact. Students work in teams of their own choosing on a year-long project that they design. \nKey features of the program\, striking a high note of innovation: \n\nProjects must target a problem or issue embedded in the UN Sustainable Development Goals.\nTeams must be interdisciplinary.\nStudents work for money\, not grades (1st place team gets $10\,000)\nPrizes are funded by corporate sponsors.\n\nWith the Challenge now about to wrap up its 2nd year\, Neil will discuss why students commit to participating in the Challenge (besides the money) and why corporate sponsors are willing to commit scarce philanthropic dollars tp it. He will also highlight the international recognition that the Challenge has brought to Western. Learn more here. \n*************** \nNeil Drobny went to college eager to study what we now call Sustainability. Unfortunately\, however\, Neil soon learned there were no such courses. Advisors suggested he study computers and space technology. He did not take that advice and majored in Environmental Engineering. \nNeil’s first job was at a US Navy laboratory that provided logistic support for Operation Deep Freeze. Neil’s work involved environmental research pertinent to operating in the Antarctic. SUMMARY:Catching the Quantum Information Wave
DESCRIPTION:WED 3/27/24\, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm \nBe ready to interact with our presenter\, Dan Gauthier\, and your fellow participants. \nPlease arrive at 11:30 am. Eat. Mingle. Make new friends. \nQuantum 1.0 technologies\, such as the transistor and laser\, have transformed society. \nWe are now entering the Quantum 2.0 age that promises to have a similarly large societal impact and accelerate our transition to an information-based economy. In the Quantum 2.0 future\, quantum computers will solve intractable problems\, quantum communication will be secure against an attack from a quantum computer\, and quantum sensors will reveal nature with exquisite sensitivity. \nWe are currently in the hype cycle of Quantum 2.0\, with billions of dollars invested by companies and governments. Yet\, the State of Ohio does not yet have many participants in the Quantum 2.0 ecosystem. \nIn this TIGER Talk\, Daniel Gauthier will give a brief overview of the promise of this quantum revolution\, why there is so much excitement\, and leave plenty of time to brainstorm about increasing local participation. \n*************** \nDaniel Gauthier is a Professor of Physics at The Ohio State University and a co-founder of ResCon Technologies commercializing his research on classical machine learning. He has ongoing projects on space- and drone-based quantum communication and quantum machine learning through his university research. He recently organized a workshop for the National Science Foundation on scaling up research and development in quantum technologies\, resulting in a national position paper. \nDaniel also knows that having a good high-tech idea does not necessarily translate to a successful startup company. \n*************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nTimeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch / Socializing \n11:50 am – Introduce yourself to our crowd (your “15 Seconds of Fame”) \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to Daniel \n1:00 pm – Wrap / More Socializing \n[expire-content date=”2024-03-27 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Company*Consent to Use My Image & Voice*By registering for & participating in this event\, I am consenting to the recording of my image and/or voice. He loves being outside hiking and biking\, helping others\, and spending time with his family. \n*************** \nLike all TIGER Events\, this one is FREE. \nTimeline: \n11:30 am – Lunch / Socializing \n11:50 am – Introduce yourself to our crowd (your “15 Seconds of Fame”) \n12:05 pm – Hand-off to John \n1:00 pm – Wrap / More Socializing \n[expire-content date=”2024-04-26 1:00pm” message=”This event has passed so registration is closed.”]\n \n Name*\n \n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n Email*\n \n Company*Consent to Use My Image & Voice*By registering for & participating in this event\, I am consenting to the recording of my image and/or voice.
