U: The Brain Company is developing Noninvasive Brain Stimulation Devices for disorders like Alzheimer’s Disease, Major Depressive Disorder, and Multiple Sclerosis. In this TIGER Tale, U’s three company founders will discuss how they first met, their technology, and the big impact they plan for it to have on the field of neuroscience. The company’s medical device is not cleared by the FDA for commercial distribution in the United States and is not available for commercial sale. Currently, this product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease and is intended for investigational use only.

Mo Abouelsoud is a 22-year-old CEO who founded U:The Brain Company 2 years ago in his college dorm room. Mo has a huge passion for Neuroscience and the study of the mind! Mo is very excited for the future and he plans to bring his love of this technology to others to support mental health across the world!

Sam Khozin, MD is a battle-tested entrepreneur who happens to be a doctor. Through Sam’s experience in medical school, internal medicine residency, as a patient, and as an entrepreneur, he has become keenly aware of the most valuable limited resource we have – time. Sam’s goal is to compassionately optimize the way our healthcare system thinks about and uses time for people on both sides of the exam table. Towards this end, Dr. Khozin is working with U: The Brain Company on an investigational device for non-invasive deep brain stimulation. By using a novel, more effective approach to existing treatment modalities for psychiatric and neurological disorders, U has the potential to give doctors more effective time with their patients, and give patients more functional time to their lives.

Jeff Spitzner, PhD has over 20 years of experience as a founder and executive of nine life-science, biotechnology, software, and healthcare companies. During this time, Jeff raised over $20 Million in investment, over $7 Million in grant/non-dilutive capital funding, and created over 80 new jobs. His business experiences include leadership roles in product visioning, technology commercialization, product development, strategic marketing and technology direction, partnering, sales management, business development, and executive leadership.

Jeff earned his PhD in Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology at The Ohio State University and Postdoc at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Molecular Biology.
