Apps You Never Knew You Needed
The proliferation of social media applications urging you to share every aspect of your life, including swapping gastrointestinal stories, continues unabated notes Wired magazine in a recent issue.
PepsiCo’s Social Vending System lets you buy a soda or gift one to a friend. The system will text your friend a code that can be redeemed on any machine equipped with the social vending technology.
On a diet? Try Withings, a social media app that allows you to share your weight and BMI via Twitter. But be careful, waxing on about fitting in to skinny jeans or your latest fad diet might cause you to lose as many friends as you do pounds.
As if there isn’t enough problems with driving and texting, Bump.com lets users text messages to the annoying driver riding their brakes in front of them. When you enter their license plate number you can swap messages – assuming the driver also uses Bump.
And who can’t live without the European Molecular Biology Laboratory’s my.microbes site which links users who want to swap running commentary about their digestive woes.
