New Albany’s State-of-the-Art Infrastructure Captures Media Attention
New Albany Business Park’s record growth in the midst of a recession, driven in part by investment in a state-of-the-art technology infrastructure, has captured the attention of Columbus CEO magazine which featured the city and The New Albany Company in its July issue.
The article “Cornfields to Cloud Computing” touts the more than 3,000 jobs and 20 businesses that have staked claim to a piece of the one-of-a-kind, master-planned park featuring four innovation campuses that represent distinct clusters of commerce, from beauty and personal care to retail and research.
Among the characteristics driving growth in New Albany is its technology infrastructure which underscores the power of public-private partnerships in developing assets that attract support business. New Albany’s dual feed electric capabilities were made possible through a relationship with AEP when it built its new mission critical data center in New Albany. At the same time, the city partnered with AEP to develop a fiber-optic network. Through a joint venture with Bluemile, the lit fiber optics enables access to more than 200 service providers across the nation and reduces network service costs to park tenants by 30 percent.
