In one day, Joe Heskett went from being one of the top-ranked athletes on Earth to a hospital bed in Columbus, Ohio. Despite being given only a 2% chance to live, Joe survived his episode with sudden cardiac arrest. However, Joe’s story of survival is just a part of his awe-inspiring journey.
Joe will share his experiences and perspectives on how leadership is an unbiased concept, a chameleon of sorts, while effective leadership is a very specific concept. Although effective leadership is difficult to consistently execute, it is a culture changer, a catalyst for small businesses and large corporations, and a major profit generator.
Joe’s talk will draw from his varied life experiences – as a top-level athlete, as the head wrestling coach at the nation’s finest leadership institution, The United States Military Academy at West Point, and as a graduate student who earned both a master’s degree in Educational Leadership and a doctoral degree in Human Development and Organizational Leadership.
Joe’s rich experiences bring together a world class competitive mindset with deep academic study in a way that supports and validates his understanding and skill in the personal development of others and effective leadership.
Creator of The Introspective Leader Education Series, Joe Heskett has always been a non-conformer. His “think outside the box” approach has served him well regardless of his role as the number one ranked wrestler in the United States, his position as a Division I head coach, his experiences as a top-level athletics administrator at West Virginia University, or his leap into entrepreneurship.
Effective leadership is rooted in understanding. Effective leadership is not automatic and does not happened just because we want it to. There is a process behind effective leadership, an educational process, that not only generates a growth mindset but also generates more profits for your business or company.
