David Iozzi is a nonprofit executive, former systems engineer, and meditation teacher who has been leading retreats, teaching online programs, guiding communities of practice, and mentoring individuals around the world since 2006.
While working as a principal research scientist at Battelle Memorial Institute, the largest independent nonprofit applied science and technology organization in the world, he founded “InMeditation”, Battelle’s organization-wide meditation program serving the Columbus, OH, headquarters, regional offices, and the national laboratories it manages. The year-round program supported “the business of innovation” through courses, workshops, retreats, one-on-one meditation instruction and executive coaching.
David’s primary meditation training is within a Buddhist tradition as a close student of Dr. Reginald A. Ray, spending two to three months per year in group and solitary retreat for nearly two decades. During that time he was a senior teacher for Dharma Ocean, the nonprofit founded by Dr. Ray, and from 2013 to 2020 he also served as executive director, leading growth of the organization’s multi-million dollar retreat center and online programming serving a worldwide community.
He currently serves as Director of Studies at the New York Zen Center for Contemplative Care, overseeing curriculum development and directing the Contemplative Medicine Fellowship, a twelve month medical fellowship for physicians, advanced practice registered nurses, and physician assistants that he co-created with the Zen Center’s founders in 2021.
