Innovative Information:

  • Tue. 11/6 – Visited the downtown Columbus company headquarters of Will BurrusFounder & CEO of a 12 person early stage virtual reality solutions builder,Immersive.is.  Will expressed interest in considering New Albany as a new headquarters for his growing business.  Described the new small business center being developed by The New Albany Company at the site of the former Plate Restaurant on N. High St. in New Albany.  Subsequently, introduced Will to leaders at The New Albany Company who arranged to show will the new business center.

 

  • Fri. 11/16 – Hosted New Albany resident Beth Gray, Founder of Gray Matter Marketing and Gray Matter Coaching.  Explained the mission and goals of Innovate New Albany, described each of our event programs, and described the different options available for entrepreneurs who would like to operate their companies from Innovate New Albany.  Subsequently, Beth decided to bring her business to innovate New Albany as a virtual resident.

 

  • Fri. 11/16 – Met with Toni Cunningham, Managing Director of Columbus based IT-focused workforce development educator Per Scholas.  Explained the mission and goals of Innovate New Albany, described each of our event programs, and explored opportunities to work together.  Ideas included bringing  a Per Scholas certificate-based education program to Innovate New Albany and having Toni present a TIGER Talk in 2019.

 

  • Mon. 11/26 – Met with Beth Thomas, CEO of Westerville-based Change 4 Growth Consulting, also a global motivational speaker on change management and employee engagement.  Explained the mission and goals of Innovate New Albany and described each of our event programs. Explored the possibility of Beth presenting a TIGER Talk ot TIGER Tale in 2019, focusing on finding a good date in May.

 

  • Mon. 11/26 – Hosted recent college grad and aspiring entrepreneur, Justin Simmons.  Explained the mission and goals of Innovate New Albany, described each of our event programs, and invited him to attend our 11/30 TIGER Talk which he subsequently did.

 

  • Tue. 11/27 – Hosted technology executive and corporate advisor Craig Chambers, former Deputy Chief, Small Business and Entrepreneurship at Ohio Development Services Agency.  Explained the mission and goals of Innovate New Albany and described each of our event programs. Explored the possibility of Craig presenting one or more TIGER programs in 2019, possibly with Norm Chagnon, Program Director, I-Corps@Ohio at The Ohio State University, Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence. Norm is the formerExecutive Director, Third Frontier Commission, Technology and Innovation Division.

 

  • Thu. 11/30 – Participated in Annual Partner Breakfast Event hosted by the Ohio SBDC (Small Business Development Center) Columbus at OSU’s Longaberger Alumni House.  Networked with SBDC employees and other guests, talked to potential future events speakers, and learned about the SBDC’s progress in 2018 and plans for 2019.
