Augmented Reality Delivers Real Success for Local Startup

Local startup, SeeMore Interactive, Inc., which received $350,000 from TechColumbus’ Pre-Seed Fund investment program, is finding success with augmented reality. As a mobile app developer, SeeMore enhances consumer engagement and augments reality with embedded product details, pricing and other key information into touch points like displays, hangtags, packaging and catalogs.

By using a mobile device, such as a smartphone or tablet, consumers can purchase products in real time and can also simultaneously gather additional information on related items, pricing, product usage, special promotions and other data key to make purchasing decisions.

According to Founder and President Neal Applefeld the technology will revolutionize consumer shopping. “I believe (augmented reality) will do for retail in-store shopping what the Internet did for in-home shopping,” he says.

SeeMore has recently launched a new application at major retail stores called VirtualShot that allows consumers to use their mobile devices to bring poster images to life. The Hobbit, Disney Fairies, Monster High, Angry Birds and The Big Bang Theory are among the posters featuring the application.

Applefeld says, “We’re well positioned to expand our technology to empower more retailers to interact with consumers on a higher level, ultimately making it much easier for their customers to see, shop and share products. The ability to increase consumer interaction and engagement is beneficial in this era of showrooming, where retailers are searching for powerful ways to capture the consumer’s attention.”
