Ella – eat local, love art – Blends Art and Cuisine
Opening in November, Ella (eat local, love art) Restaurant, 270 E. Main St., will offer a fusion of seasonally-inspired, locally-sourced cuisine in a space that is part art gallery, part restaurant. Frustrated by the lack of restaurants with fresh, local food, New Albany residents and entrepreneurs Hayley Savage and Amy Schottenstein founded Ella.
The restaurant’s menu features an eclectic range of contemporary American cuisine from mussels with pancetta, caramelized onions, garlic and beer broth and a balsamic grilled eggplant sandwich to braised beef short ribs with horseradish whipped potatoes, Brussels sprouts and a braising reduction.
Schottenstein, founder of Summerstock Food & Flowers in Lakeside, Ohio, and Hayley, founder of New Albany’s Hayley Gallery, are combining their passions in a space that will enable diners to stroll through the adjoining art gallery where Hayley has moved her business. Customers can even schedule a dinner or special event in the gallery. The gallery has already reopened at its new location. Hours are Monday through Friday from 11 am to 6 pm and Saturday from noon to 5 pm
