Accel Ramps Up at Personal Care and Beauty Campus
Accel, one of the first companies to open in New Albany’s Personal Care and Beauty Innovation Campus, is rapidly growing its packaging enterprise with its new 517,000 square-foot facility that features a two-story slide that moves packages more rapidly and reduces costs.
In less than a year, the company will be joined by six of the personal care and beauty industry’s leading manufacturers, all part of the highly-integrated supply chain hub where companies can benefit from complementary capabilities, common supply chain contractors and creative synergies.
Accel, which designs and produces a range of packaging products for the health and beauty, pharmacy and nutrition industries, plans to eventually employ 2,400 workers. The new Accel facility is designed to speed up the production process with vertical design features that reduce the distance and, consequently, the time it takes for products to travel through the production stages.
Vee Pak of Ohio, Knowlton Development Corp., Anomatic, Axium Plastics, Alene Candles and Jeyes will open facilities in 2012.
Quoted in the New Albany News, Accel Co-CEO and Chief Operating Office David Abraham says campus is one of a kind. “We’re creating something extremely innovative and new, and to have it right here in Central Ohio is very exciting.”
