Bicentennial is Catalyst for Community Building

200Columbus the Bicentennial is a yearlong, community-wide celebration that commemorates our city’s past, present and future while promoting our homegrown entrepreneurs, nationally ranked research institutions, neighborhoods, attractions, events, arts, sports and culture.

Both a catalyst for economic prosperity and a community-building effort, 200Columbus hopes to use the bicentennial to increase Columbus’ visibility globally and build its reputation as one of the best places to live and work.

A wide variety of businesses, nonprofits, arts, community and government organizations are developing programming and activities, ranging from a historical exhibit at COSI and an All-Ohio juried arts exhibition at the City Center Gallery to a new series entitled Shaping Columbus that will appear in Columbus Business First.

There are plenty of opportunities for individuals to get involved. For instance, you can share your Columbus story on 200Columbus’ website, test your Columbus history skills via a weekly Columbus Dispatch Bicentennial Challenge quiz or submit an original musical recording for the Celebrate Columbus Song Contest. Innovate New Albany, the city’s incubator for technology startups, entrepreneurs and small businesses, features 16,000 square feet of space within the New Albany Business Park’s Signature Office Building, 8000 Walton Parkway.
