Schools Hire First Chief of Innovation

The New Albany Plain Local Schools recently tapped Marilyn Troyer, former state deputy superintendent of public instruction, to serve as its chief innovation, improvement and human capital. Troyer will lead development of staff, maintain the district’s vision for innovation and ensure continuous improvement.

The chief of innovation, improvement and capital position was created by Superintendent April Domine as part of her mission to put innovation front in center in the school system. Troyer will report to the Superintendent and assist in the oversight and leadership of the entire educational program. The new position replaces the role of a human resources director.

Troyer, who worked for the Ohio Department of Education for 21 years, was involved with projects to secure Race to the Top grants, implement research for the Harvard-published book Instructional Rounds in Education and supervised five associate superintendents.
