New Albany Resident, Venture Capitalist Joins Columbus 2020
Venture capitalist and New Albany resident Victor Thorne was named managing director, strategic development, at Columbus 2020, a public-private partnership designed to stimulate economic development in the 11-county Central Ohio region.
In his new role, Thorne will leverage the Columbus Region’s reputation as a preferred and optimal location for the world’s most promising entrepreneurs. “Victor brings a background of both investment and operating management experience to Columbus 2020, spanning Fortune 500 corporations to entrepreneurial ventures,” said Kenny McDonald, chief economic officer, Columbus 2020.
Thorne was a director at TechColumbus and the Ohio TechAngel Funds, the largest angel investment network in North America. He also is co-founder of Broadline Capital, a global investment management firm that won the Asia Venture Deal of the Year award from Private Equity International in 2008. He co-founded the leading provider of supply chain management and intelligence solutions to the trillion-dollar food system, which created the industry’s first SaaS electronic, supply network.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University, earned his MBA at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management, and participated in Harvard Business School’s Executive Program on Supply Chain Management.
