Columbus Kicks Off Design Week
Columbus’ Center for Architecture and Design, in collaboration with the Columbus Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, kicked off its inaugural CBUS Design Week this past weekend with a film festival, bike tour and unique exhibition of hundreds of idea books authored by a variety of artists, designers, architects, residents, business owners and other people of interest.
The series of programs that continues throughout this week are designed to educate and inspire people about the world of design and the impact it has on our lives, foster an appreciation for the power of creative design thinking, and raise awareness about the importance of design industries to our local economy. Design Week is part of idUS, a celebration that is linked to the 200 Columbus initiative or bicentennial, created to unleash the innovative spirit in all of us through interactive workshops and exhibits.
Providing a snapshot of the area’s robust design that encompasses everything from professional renowned design organizations to the nationally ranked Columbus College of Art and Design, Design Week is similar to events in Stockholm, Beijing, Helsinki, Berlin, Milan, New York and San Francisco.
