New Albany and Partners Innovate
Community Wellness
A planned one-of-a-kind, one-stop wellness center in the heart of New Albany’s Village Center aims to make the city the healthiest community in the nation through personalized, evidence-based medicine, fitness and community activities.
Slated to open in 2014, the 48,000-square-foot community wellness center is the result of a unique partnership between the City of New Albany, Healthy New Albany, a 501c3 nonprofit that provides a wide range of health and wellness services to residents and businesses, and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
More than 40 percent of the facility will be leased to OSU for its personalized healthcare initiative, “P4 Medicine: Predictive, Preventive, Personalized and Participatory,” which integrates health assessments, education, fitness and healthcare services with outpatient medical and rehabilitation services and comprehensive fitness center that includes swimming and therapy pools.
Healthy New Albany will staff the center, oversee community space that includes a lounge, multipurpose rooms, meeting space, demo kitchen and childcare and will provide programming.
