New Albany’s First Business-Class Hotel Opens

Given the record-setting pace of development at New Albany’s Business Park despite the recent economic downturn, it is not surprise that the city’s first business-class hotel is slated to open in April.

The Courtyard by Marriott at Forest Drive and Smith’s Mill Road will feature a lobby that boasts innovative technologies, including a virtual concierge, and accommodations that offer flexible space to work and relax. In addition to business travelers, the long-awaited hotel is expected to serve overnight guests participating in one of the many New Albany events such as the New Albany Walking Classic and Grand Prix, and families of patients at the Mount Carmel New Albany Surgical Hospital.

The hotel will also feature:

• 111 guest rooms and 11 suites
• 1,110 square feet of meeting space, including The Buckeye Room that seats 50
• a restaurant serving breakfast and dinner
• an indoor, saltwater pool
• outdoor lounge area with fire pit

The $12 million project will allow overnight visitors to the community’s many amenities, including the Jeanne B. McCoy Center for the Arts and Market Square, New Albany’s city center and the site of restaurants, a coffee shop, boutiques and a library.
