Centuries-old Recipe Inspires Creation of Local Liqueur
Innovation in New Albany isn’t limited to technology. In fact, the latest small business success story, Veriano Fine Food & Spirits, was influenced by a centuries-old, secret family recipe for liqueur. And, George and Linda Vergits at Veriano are producing this one-of-a-kind “Italian masterpiece” right here in our community.
According to their website, Tessora (treasure in Italian) Limone, is “like nothing else and must be tasted to understand.” Often confused with limoncello, this unique digestif liqueur is best served neat after dinner or over ice cream or cake.
Currently available only in central Ohio restaurants and bars, including Mia Cucina in New Albany, the Vergits have plans to take Tessora to a national audience. And they are working to turn additional time-tested recipes into marketable products in the next year. Proud to be based in New Albany, the couple says, “We feel lucky to have launched this liqueur in such a progressive community with a culinary and cultural focus.”
