Great Resources for Beginning Bloggers

Having a blog for your business has countless benefits, and fortunately for most of us, starting and maintaining a blog does not require technical skill or an IT degree. With the help of blogging platforms such as WordPress or Blogger, anyone can start a blog and have their content published in a matter of minutes.

But for the new business owner, who may not know where to start and has countless other responsibilities on his or her plate, starting a blog may seem like a huge mountain to climb.

There are resources available for beginning bloggers that can assist you in getting started and support you along the way. Some are even free. If you are considering starting a blog or have already taken the initial steps, here are some helpful resources you may want to tap into to get the jump-start you need:

Online Blogging Courses.

Many writers and marketing companies offer free online courses on blogging, as well as numerous other topics. Ultimately, they are hoping you will utilize their other services in some way, but they offer valuable tips and advice to get you started. Check out Goinswriter.com, Beginner Blogging or the Blog Smarter Course.

Ebooks.

Ebooks can be easily downloaded to your computer or tablet and are available on the topic of blogging. Several companies have written e-books about blogging, with tips, words of advice and tricks of the trade. Ebooks to check out include How to Start a Blog, The Blogger’s Workbook and Hubspot’s Introduction to Business Blogging.

Blogs about Blogging.

There are blogs and websites that focus on the art of blogging and offer an endless supply of information. Some of them include Copyblogger, Problogger and Blogging Basics 101. You can subscribe to get the newest articles and information emailed to you.

Webinars, Podcasts and Broadcasts.

If you learn better by watching or listening, webinars, podcasts and broadcasts may be a good option for you. HubSpot has free broadcasts on becoming a better blogger. Copyblogger Radio has a podcast called The Rainmaker. Curata offers a webinar called “Business Blogging Secrets Revealed.”

Blogging Heroes by Michael A. Banks.

This book was recommended me when I first started my own blog, and it’s a great read. Author Michael A. Banks interviewed 30 of the world’s most accomplished bloggers. The book is packed full of helpful, valuable advice and insights about what worked, what didn’t work and all the bumps along the way. It was interesting, informative, and a good reminder that even the most successful bloggers started at the beginning just like everyone else.

Blogging resources are available and are waiting to educate and inspire the beginning blogger. They are easy to find once you know where to look. Check out some of these resources, and use the information and knowledge you gain to turn your blog into a success for your business.
