Columbus2020 Plots Regional Growth
Columbus2020, a regional public-private partnership encompassing 11 central Ohio counties has set ambitious goals to be realized by 2020.
According to Kenny McDonald, Columbus2020’s chief economic officer, the organization has embarked on a long-term effort to create the economy of the future by leveraging the region’s open, young and diverse culture as a key competitive advantage.
In a recent Ohio News Network interview, McDonald outlined 2020 goals that include adding 150,000 net jobs; increasing personal per capita income by 30 percent; and adding $8 billion dollars in capital investment.
The region has many assets to promote. It is the 15th largest city in the United States, a leading research hub, the country’s third largest capital city, boasts the nation’s number one research institute, Battelle, and has three amenities that rank number one in the country – the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, COSI Columbus and the Huntington Park.
