Former Limited Brands Executive Named Most Entrepreneurial University President

Former Limited Brands Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer and New Albany resident Leonard Schlesinger was recently honored for his entrepreneurial leadership in his latest role as president of Babson College. At the 11th annual National Policy Forum on Innovation and Minority Entrepreneurship Education Schlesinger received the award for the nation’s “Most Entrepreneurial University President.”

“I’m flattered and honored to receive this recognition for the great education we provide and my role in helping to make it happen,” said Schlesinger. “Babson’s faculty and staff have created an enormously powerful living and learning laboratory that prepares our students with deep functional knowledge and the significant capability to take action in the face of uncertainty–an unusual combination that allows us to proudly say we’re the only school in the world that does what we do.”

Coupling his past experience at the helm of Limited Brands and Au Bon Pain along with his lengthy stint as a business professor at Harvard University, Schlesinger brings a unique perspective to the development of undergraduate and graduate degrees designed for entrepreneurs. Included in the innovative coursework is a hands-on class which requires all first-year students to create, operate and liquidate a business during the school year.

Babson College is ranked #1 for the study of entrepreneurship of all kinds by U.S. News & World Report, The Princeton Review, Entrepreneur magazine, and the Financial Times.
