Gateway Links OSU and TechColumbus
A collaboration between The Ohio State University and TechColumbus is designed to leverage the University’s research and technology platforms and TechColumbus’ business development and entrepreneurial expertise to launch startup companies.
The Ohio Third Frontier Commission has recommended $7.7 million to fully fund the Central Ohio Entrepreneurial Signature Program (ESP) for 2013-2014. The award will be matched by Battelle, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, OhioHealth, Ohio State and others, ultimately creating a pot of $15.4 million to invest in the region’s innovation economy. Of that, $2.6 million will be dedicated to the Innovation Gateway, the new initiative that formally links the Technology Commercialization Office at Ohio State and TechColumbus.
“The Innovation Gateway represents a new model for startup creation and economic development and further establishes our strong alliance with TechColumbus.” said Brian Cummings, vice president of technology commercialization for Ohio State. “It is yet another example of the collaborative spirit that exists in our region and a credit to those that can think differently and execute.”
