Each year, more than 70 million tons of packaging is thrown out, much of it ending up in landfills where it accounts for 70 percent of all trash.
Now, companies ranging from PUMA to method are embracing green packaging, a strategy that provides a distinct point of differentiation to set these brands apart, drives sales and connect with consumers in meaningful ways.
PUMA has replaced the standard shoe box with a reusable shoe bag. And, instead of plastic hangars to display its flip flops, the company now uses the “Clever Little Hanger” made with recycled paper pulp and soy-based ink, both of which are recyclable in most local recycling programs.
