New Albany Supporting Pelotonia in Multiple Ways

When one of the nation’s youngest and largest cycling events takes place this weekend, New Albany will have a greater presence than ever. This year, Pelotonia 12, a cycling event that has raised nearly $35 million for The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, has three routes, including the 50, 155 and 180-mile that wind through New Albany’s woodlands and meadows ending in the city’s parks and town square where cyclists will be greeted by fans, bands and food.

For the third year in a row, the Girls with Gears, a New Albany women’s peloton will ride the event as will New Albany City Councilman Sloan Spaulding who ranked among the event’s top finishers last year and has led training rides for the Girls with Gears.

This year, they will be joined by a team from Anomatic, North America’s largest supplier of high volume metal packaging custom anodized for the medical, pharmaceutical, personal care and cosmetics. The company recently moved into the New Albany Business Park’s Personal Care and Beauty Innovation Campus.

With more than 6,200 riders, Pelotonia has surpassed the number of riders in the Pan-Massachusetts Challenge, the 33-year-old Boston event that it was modeled after.
