Skip Prichard, an experienced senior executive in the information services market, has been named the next OCLC President and CEO. Located in Central Ohio, OCLC is an international nonprofit computer library service and research organization used by 74,000 libraries in 170 countries.
Prichard was President and CEO of Ingram Content Group Inc., which provides physical and digital services to the book industry. Prichard succeeds Jay Jordan who retired June 30 after 15 years at the helm of OCLC.
OCLC was founded in 1967 with the purpose of furthering access to the world’s information and reducing library costs. Libraries use OCLC services to locate, acquire, catalog, lend, preserve and manage library materials. Researchers, students, faculty, scholars, professional librarians and other information seekers use OCLC services to obtain bibliographic, abstract and full-text information. OCLC and its member libraries cooperatively produce and maintain WorldCat, the world’s largest online database of library resources.
