South by Southwest Interactive Festival calls it serendipity, the new buzzword that has replaced innovation. Whatever you call the often random process by which ideas turn into discoveries, companies across the country are trying to ignite it by developing workspaces that are more likely to encourage the kind of casual encounters that happen over lunch or around the coffee machine that can spark new ideas.
