Empowering Employees to Improve Patient Care

Wouldn’t it be great if your boss encouraged you to come up with new ideas and then actually implemented them? It’s happening at Ohio Health through a unique program called the Ohio Health Research and Innovation Institute that aims to improve patient care by empowering its employees.

For example, nurse Tabitha Campbell identified the need for a device that would help with patient mobility. The Institute helped Campbell find an engineer to work with and the result is the Overbed Trapeze, a device that is now installed in 44 rooms at Grant Medical Center’s Bone and Joint Center.

Innovate New Albany, the city’s incubator for technology startups, entrepreneurs and small businesses, features 16,000 square feet of space within the New Albany Business Park’s Signature Office Building, 8000 Walton Parkway.
