Tara Abraham, CEO of Accel Inc., one of the first companies to locate in New Albany’s Personal Care and Beauty Innovation Campus, has been appointed to a three-year term on the National Women’s Business Council. Abrahams will represent the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council on the federal advisory council that advises the president, Congress and the U.S. Small Business Administration on economic policies related to women business owners.

“I am honored to be appointed to the NWBC representing the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council,” says Abraham. “As a WBENC-certified women’s business enterprise, and as a member of the WBENC board, I have been immersed in key issues of women’s business opportunities and leaderships that drive women’s business success.”

In 1995, Abrahams launched Accel in a 1,200-square-foot space to fill a void in the beauty industry for affordable, efficient and flexible packaging. Next month, the company will move into its 517,000 square-foot, LEED-certified headquarters in New Albany with expanded services to pharmaceutical, health care and food industries.

According to fellow NWBC member and central Ohioan Donna James, Abrahams selection brings “a credible and knowledgeable leadership voice for women entrepreneurs and small business owners” and “a valued perspective on the development and growth issues they face from startup to success to significance.”
