Ranked the best in the nation by Walking Magazine, it’s never too early to register for the New Albany Walking Classic scheduled for Sunday, September 11th. In fact, according to founder Phil Heit, the country’s largest non-competitive walking event sells out all 3,500 slots each year. The classic which began with a group of walking enthusiasts in 2004 now draws recreational as well as Olympic caliber walkers from across the country.
Featuring a 10K and half marathon, the event starts in New Albany’s Market Square and meanders along a picturesque course through residential neighborhoods of stately Georgian homes surrounded by meadows, woodlands and waterways.
