Healthful innovation is happening in New Albany. Thousands of individuals who live and work in the city now have the opportunity to become actively involved in improving their well-being, thanks to Healthy New Albany, an initiative launched by the New Albany Community Foundation.
For instance, the New Albany Farmers Market which begins this month and runs from 4 to 7 pm every Thursday through September 8 at Market Square, offers a vast array of fresh produce and other locally sourced goods. The farmers market is one several activities sponsored and coordinated by Healthy New Albany as part of a comprehensive effort designed to promote a culture of wellness that will improve the health of people who live and work in New Albany.
In addition to the farmers market, the initiative includes a Healthy New Albany Magazine, community gardens, speakers’ series, health expo and lunch ‘n learn sessions at the New Albany Business Park.
Is Healthy New Albany helping to produce healthier workers? Are health risks being reduced? Healthy New Albany has partnered with Duke University Medical Center and The Ohio State University College of Medicine to develop an evaluation framework to determine the impact of the initiative on health behaviors.
