Want to attract more business? Playing hide and seek may sound counterintuitive, but that’s what Tweet and Go Seek (TAGS) does by using Twitter to prompt art-lovers to hunt for art pieces hidden around Columbus that can be redeemed just like a coupon for discounts offered at local retailers.
Launched in 2009 at the avant garde Art Basel show in Miami, more than 600 clues and Twitpics have been distributed via Twitter encouraging followers to “tweet and go seek”.
“TAGS is the inaugural campaign in a boutique arsenal of initiatives aimed at creating more active, direct engagement with consumers and greater ROI for brands,” says creator Matthew Barnes.
With redemption rates of over 85 percent, vendors are seeing a high return on investment, including 180 percent spent over the value of the brand giveaway.
Here’s how to play:
1) Follow @tweetandgoseek on Twitter
2) Set up yourmobile device to receive text messages anytime a piece is left in the environment… OR … stay glued to your stream while we’re on the prowl!
3) If you recognize the environment in the tweeted photo and you think you’re close enough… jump up, run out, and be the first one to the location to grab the collectible art piece!
4) When you get one, check the back to see where you can save money!
