5G is a hot buzzword these days, but wouldn’t you like to understand how will it impact our lives and the world around us?

In this TIGER Talk, our presenter John Lackey will explain what 5G technology is AND how it’s going to impact each of us personally and professionally.

As background, John will start by reviewing the history of mobile technology and the basics of what makes a cell phone work. 5G is certainly fast, but it will also enable changes in many different industries. It will provide the infrastructure for future services that we can’t even imagine yet.

Participants will leave with an understanding of mobile communication 5G technology, the endless possibilities it can offer, and how it can be leveraged to enhance business strategies.

John Lackey has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications and software industry working for Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies, and Nokia. He started his career working on robotics and computer vision systems. In the telecommunications sector he worked on development of database systems supporting 800 services, creation of one of the earliest distributed telecom architectures, fixed wireless products, and global deployment of 4G and 5G.

John has managed teams in multiple countries supporting system engineering, software development, quality testing and global deployments.

John earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University, specializing in Robotics.
