Three recent decisions by Google are disrupting organizations and creating an urgent need for action.
First, Google is deleting all Google Analytics data pre-2023, meaning we all lose access to historical web site data starting July of 2024. This also means that any organization with a data retention policy will be out of compliance as of July 2024.
Second, online advertisers will lose the ability to retarget ads using third-party cookies in 2024 as Google Chrome begins blocking cookies. This means ad performance will likely suffer dramatically in 2024.
Third, Google remains in conflict with CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) over HIPAA guidelines. According to a recent study, 99% of hospital websites are out of compliance with HIPAA. If you work in healthcare, your legal liability for HIPAA violations is measured in millions of dollars.
