Food Innovation Center to Create Healthier World
The Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Research at The Ohio State University recently created the Centers for Innovation and Innovation Group to encourage collaboration among experts across the University’s many disciplines to address “issues and problems of global dimension.”
The Food Innovation Center is one of the initiatives that was created through a $3.75 million grant from the University from 2010 to 2015 to create a healthier, hunger-free world. With more than 150 faculty members representing all 14 of the University’s colleges working together, the Innovation Center has four key initiatives:
- Foods for health: Improving human health through food
- Biomedical nutrition: Discovering the medicine in food
- Food safety: Promoting safe food
- Food strategy and policy: Working toward a healthier, hunger-free world
