The Core, New Albany Center for Healthy Living Breaks Ground
New Albany’s ambitious plans to create the healthiest community in America is one step closer to becoming a reality with the recent groundbreaking of The Core, New Albany Center for Healthy Living which is expected to become the hub for health and wellness programs and services in the city’s Village Center.
The Core is designed to empower individuals to achieve and sustain healthier lifestyles through a personalized, integrated, community-centric approach that revolves around medical, fitness, social and educational programs and services for residents and employees in the community. The 55,000-square-foot building is the result of a partnership between the City of New Albany, Healthy New Albany, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The New Albany Company donated land for the facility adding yet another amenity to the pedestrian-friendly Village Center which already includes restaurants, a coffee shop, a Columbus Metropolitan Library Branch, the 200-acre New Albany Plain Local Schools learning campus and the McCoy Center for the Arts.
“Our entire community is now at the forefront of an approach to wellness that has never been done before, and this community hub of healthy activity will complement New Albany recreational amenities that already exist,” said New Albany Mayor Nancy Ferguson.
