Adolph Lombardi, Jr., MD, a New Albany resident and orthopedic surgeon who was one of the founders of the New Albany Mount Carmel Surgical Hospital, believes in giving back in a big way.
In fact, through his nonprofit, Operation Walk USA, and the support of 109 surgeons in 49 hospitals across the country, 215 people at the poverty level received free joint replacements late last year – all on the same day. According to Lombardi, the early Christmas present was made possible by hospitals that donated space and services and joint replacement manufacturers that provided free knees and hips implants.
