Buckeye Bullets Blast the Competition
Did you know that college students from Central Ohio, more specifically The Ohio State University, set the world record for the fastest lithium battery-powered vehicle traveling on land by clocking in at 308 mph in the Bonneville Salt Flats of Utah, one of the flattest spots on earth. Watch the stunning feat from behind the wheel.
First Buckeye Bullet was the first electric vehicle to break the 300 mph record. The Buckeye Bullet 3 is set to debut in the summer of 2012 with an initial target speed of 400 mph.
The student-run team is based at the Center for Automotive Research at Ohio State where they built the battery-powered land speed streamliner and other record-setting vehicles. The Buckeye Bullet program is designed to provide unique engineering challenges for students and valuable hands-on experience for tomorrow’s engineers.
They also hope to promote electric vehicle technology by proving that green technologies of the future will be both fun to drive and fast! Learn more about the Buckeye Bullets.
