Going Off the Grid on Vacation
With 79% of respondents in a recent American Express survey acknowledging that they expect to remain connected on their next vacation, it’s no wonder that hotels and travel agencies are offering “digital detox” vacations where you can surrender your electronic devices in exchange for a book, board game or yoga. If you are not ready go cold turkey, don’t worry. You are not alone. The survey breaks out the top online activities while on vacation:
• 72% read personal email
• 49% utilized Internet sites to find trip-related information
• 41% did online banking
• 27% checked/updated their social-media profiles
• 25% stayed abreast of the news
• 17% checked work email
