Fund Encourages Small Biz to Commercialize Technology

The state of Ohio is targeting small businesses with new funding to encourage the commercialization of technologies that have been developed by Ohio’s colleges and universities.

The Ohio Department of Development and Ohio Third Frontier recently released the FY2012 Technology Validation and Startup Fund (TVSF) RFP that features two separate mechanisms and application requirements to stimulate business development.

The dual intent of the program is to 1) Support protected technologies developed at Ohio institutions of higher education that need known validation/proof that will directly impact and enhance both their commercial viability and ability to support a startup company and 2) Support Ohio startups and Ohio young companies that license these validated/proven technologies from those Ohio institutions.

Innovate New Albany, the city’s incubator for technology startups, entrepreneurs and small businesses, features 16,000 square feet of space within the New Albany Business Park’s Signature Office Building, 8000 Walton Parkway.
