When Inc@8000, New Albany’s small business incubator at 8000 Walton Parkway was created, the city projected full occupancy in 2012. Despite a sluggish economy or perhaps because of it, that milestone was reached in June when the last of the 17 offices and 10 cubicles was leased to a startup.
As the list of potential startups waiting for space at Inc@8000 started growing, Tom Guy, business development director of Inc@8000, and city planners developed a unique lease option offering virtual office space. Virtual tenants pay a small fee each month and receive access to Inc@8000’s conference rooms, kitchen and Wi-Fi services. They receive keys to the facilities in order to have 24-hour access and can even have their mail delivered to the prestigious business address. And, most importantly, they remain high on the waiting list if one of Inc@8000’s current tenants outgrows their space.
Currently there are six startups enjoying virtual status. They include:

- Anders Law
- Realscore
- Compost Connect
- TekDog
- Journal Lynx
