Minimally Invasive Devices buoyed by venture capital deal
Minimally-Invasive Devices, Inc., founded by New Albany resident and urologist, Wayne Poll, MD, is expanding its Central Ohio operations to launch the third generation of FloShield, a system designed to keep camera lenses free of debris and condensation during laparoscopic surgeries, Business First recently reported.
The winner of the 2011 TechColumbus Innovation Awards for Start-Up of the Year and CEO of the Year (for companies of 50 or less employees), recently received a total of $11.4 million in funding from Radius Ventures, LLC, Canaan Partners and Charter Life Sciences.
The money will be used to expand its sales staff and undertake scientific studies for the technology that decreases the need to interrupt surgery to clean laparoscopes saving surgical centers both time and money.
