Even if you’ve got the greatest idea in the world, there’s a host of barriers that can prevent your product from getting to the market. Now, a website called Quirky is helping entrepreneurs get feedback from the public and bring their creations to life.
Each week, Quirky.com allows more than 57,000 members to offer suggestions on a product’s concept, coloring, or name and then vote to send the most two most promising prototypes to market.
Some of the successful innovations to date include Cloak (an iPad cover), Pivot Power (a flexible electrical power strip that holds large adapters) and Cordies (a box that neatly organizing computer power cords). Now selling at retail stores like Bed Bath & Beyond, these products initially are sold on the Quirky site with a threshold needed to begin production, similar to a Groupon.
