A Technology Roundtable conducted by Clark Schaefer Hackett, one of the region’s leading professional services firms, featured Tom Guy, the business development executive for Innovate New Albany, New Albany’s incubator for technology startups.
Guy joined experts from a variety of backgrounds who shared their insights and perspectives on the challenges to everything from protecting intellectual property to maintaining the pace of innovation. According to Guy, greater collaboration between higher education and the IT business community is necessary to bridge the skills’ gap facing the industry and, ultimately, create the kind of curriculum that matches the skill sets technology businesses need.
“The pace of the industry is incredibly fast, and higher education does not keep up,” says Guy. “We have to get to faster cycle times when it comes to training the workforce to meet market needs.”
The panel also included Pamela Spring, President and CEO of Manta Media, entrepreneurs such as Megan Holstein, CEO, Pufferfish Software, and Brian Zuercher, CEO and Co-founder of Venueseen, and policy expert Dwayne Sattler, Associate Vice President of Policy for the Ohio Technology Consortium’s Office of Research.
