Don’t miss the unique stories of Aaron Westbrook (of New Albany) and Brooke Yoakam (of Upper Arlington, OH), two creative, hard-working entrepreneurs, both under 21. They are each building serious products and strong organizations yet pursuing very different paths to their goals.
Aaron Westbrook is a graduate of New Albany High School and a 2nd year Marketing student at The Ohio State University. In addition to carrying a full-time academic load, Aaron is Founder & CEO of Form5 Prosthetics, a non-profit organization he launched while in high school after 3-D printing his own arm at the age of 14.
Form5 Prosthetics Inc., a 501(c)3 organization, provides eco-friendly 3-D Printed prosthetics for those with limb-loss, completely free of charge. Form5 also employs closed-loop recycling. Form5 will be hosting ‘CO-FAB’ in November 2019, a workshop created to allow those with limb-loss to change the world’s perspective on prosthetics. During this four-day event, those with limb-loss are paired with aspiring engineers to design their own ideas for prosthetics – in the process learning design, engineering, science, and technology.
Brooke Yoakam is an Upper Arlington High School senior, actively involved as class president, volunteering at SON Ministeries, and serving as captain of her school’s soccer team. Brooke is also the CEO and Founder of GiftPocket, a mobile app to help you manage your gift cards.
Brooke came up with the idea for GiftPocket when she was 12 years old while attending the Young Entrepreneurs Academy. In the program, she developed the idea of GiftPocket and won funding for the “best business idea.” After finalizing her business plan and participating in Rev1 Ventures’ Concept Academy, she became an engaged client with Rev1 Ventures. Rev1 has been a great resource in helping Brooke turn her app idea into a reality. She has also built an experienced team to work on the implementation of GiftPocket. GiftPocket launched in the Apple App Store in April 2019.
GiftPocket is a gift card shopping app that allows users to store all of their gift cards on your phone, keep all of their gift cards organized, pay with their gift cards in stores, and buy gift cards with GP Points or credit cards – all from your Pocket. It allows users to exchange gift cards they don’t want for brands they love using GiftPocket’s unique feature, Exchange.
Aaron and Brooke will describe their current enterprises, what motivated them to pursue entrepreneurship, and where they are headed. They will also suggest ways you can help them in their efforts to succeed and contribute to building a vibrant economy and creating a better world! We are planning plenty of time for attendees to interact with Aaron and Brooke, so please bring your questions for them.
