Tenant Spotlight – Meet Perry Jeter, Founder/CEO of JetFuel Tech, Inc.

Perry Jeter is a tenant at Innovate New Albany, and the Founder and CEO of JetFuel Tech, Inc.

PerryJetFuel Tech creates a wearable sensor technology system for athletes, weekend warriors/military applications and everyday users who want to monitor their activity and health, improve training methodologies and prevent injuries.

Perry started JetFuel Tech in May of 2014. Its patent pending Impact Software System will battle other wearable technology companies, by recording physiological and kinetic parameters, indoors or outdoors, and with long-range solutions.

Their wearable technology will monitor medical-grade ECG, true respirations and skin body temperature during any activity or while at rest.

It will also measure proper acceleration, which can be used to calculate velocities, force of blow, and speed of impact, so that notifications will be made when a force places a player or athlete at risk for injury.

JetFuelHow does your product benefit your customers?

In the 21st century, everybody wants to monitor their health. We want to be that device or system that is a hybrid between devices. It will allow people to log onto a system like a website or a smart phone, see their heart rate, and monitor their health.

What made you decide to start your business?

My father, Perry Jeter, Sr., who played for the Chicago Bears, has been diagnosed with Alzheimers/dementia. I’ve been working with neurologists around the world for the past five years and concussion monitoring systems. This led me to pursue the world of sports injuries by embedding wearable technology into apparel.

What is the smartest move you’ve made so far as a business owner?

Becoming office-based and getting an office at Innovate New Albany. It has made me streamline and organize myself. A home-based office is cheap, but it can cost you portions of your business if you are not careful. Being in an office lets you share ideas and interact with people. It’s not as easy to get distracted.

What is your biggest mistake?

Not completing one task before going to the next. Stay on task as much as possible, and don’t get behind.

If you had one piece of advice to give a new business owner, what would it be?

Plan out your week. Don’t let your week plan you out.

What are some of the biggest challenges you face as a business owner?

The technology sector is not as diverse. There is a learning curve, accepting and adapting to minorities and women in the tech sector.

How has your business grown and changed since it first started?

It has grown by leaps and bounds. We started with an idea, and now we have a prototype, moving to distribution and partnerships. We hope to launch our product in the first quarter of 2016.

What made you decide to become a tenant at Innovate New Albany?

The acceptance of diversity and diverse backgrounds; it’s affordable and convenient. It’s a great place to raise a business.

What do you love most about working or living in New Albany?

It’s a safety net for up and coming businesses. Being able to network at local events.
