Innovate New Albany Exceeds Expectations in First Year
With shared workspaces popping up across the country, it’s no wonder that Innovate New Albany, New Albany’s incubator for technology and small business startups has achieved great success in such a short period of time.
In fact, in less than 6 months, its 17 lockable offices and ten cubicles were fully leased. Today, as it reaches its one-year anniversary, an additional ten companies occupy “virtual” spaces giving them access to shared services that include Internet, conference rooms, printers and a legitimate address to put on their business card, notes Tom Guy.
According to Guy, the cost advantages of the shared office system and opportunities to collaborate with other new startups are only a few of its many advantages. It is a one-stop shop where government, area businesses, venture capitalists and private agencies come together to provide the guidance, expertise and services that new businesses need to succeed.
The incubator houses New Albany TechStart, an affiliate of TechColumbus, one of the country’s top five technology incubators. Four Innovate New Albany tenants were named finalists in TechColumbus’ recent Innovation Awards Program and five tenants are in process of receiving Ohio Third Frontier funding.
More than 1,000 individuals have attended workshops in the space led by TechColumbus, the Ohio Small Business Development Corporation and Buckeye Interactive, one of the incubator’s first tenants.
