A diverse business is defined multiple ways. If you are a member of a minority or economically disadvantaged group — or you’re a woman, an LGBTQ-identifying individual, or a veteran — you may be eligible to obtain a diversity classification for your business.
We invite you to join attorney Jasmin Hurley, as she walks through the various certifications available to businesses. With this knowledge, your business will be able to tap into new resources and funding dedicated to enhancing the prosperity of your business.
This event is ideal for small business owners who would like to learn:
- The varied certifications available
- How to become diversity-certified
- The benefits tied to having a diversity certification (i.e. being able to receive projects from larger companies or governmental entities or funds from organizations seeking to support diversity-certified businesses)
Jasmin Hurley is an associate at Porter Wright Morris & Arthur where she focuses on intellectual property and corporate and business matters. She represents clients across many industries, including food and beverage, health care, media and technology. She has experience in advising startup and small businesses to large private companies regarding entity structure, formation, governance and financing, as well as preparation of business and commercial documents.
Jasmin also brings significant experience in advising clients on the development and security of IP, including copyright and trademark registration, trademark prosecution, licensing, purchasing, transfers and commercialization. She assists with IP-related aspects of mergers and acquisitions. Finally, Jasmin advises women-, minority-, and veteran-owned businesses regarding business certification at the local, state and national levels, and provides support during the application process.
A Veteran of the U.S. Army, Jasmin held leadership roles in the Military Police as Platoon Leader, Executive Officer, and Battalion Plans Officer. She is a combat Veteran and a Bronze Star recipient.
