Today, it’s not enough for companies to just make good products or have the best service. They must stand for something. People support brands who share their values.

More often than not, those values include environmental sustainability. But in a world where everything is “green,” “eco,” and “earth-friendly,” how do companies stand out?

Brands can’t just call themselves green anymore. We’ll look at the history of the “eco” movement and where things stand today. Then, we’ll explore the strategies and best practices of companies that embody what it means to be sustainable without being cliche or dishonest.

You’ll come away with a clearer understanding of what it means to be a sustainable brand in 2020, along with strategic and practical brand approaches to put into practice.

Neil Wengerd is a creative director and designer with over 10 years experience creating iconic, memorable brand identities. Through work with clients ranging from two-person startups to Fortune 500 companies to the world’s largest public university, he’s built a process built on curiosity, collaboration, and craftsmanship.

Neil is a graduate of Kent State’s School of Visual Communication Design, and his work has been recognized by HOW Magazine, Victionary Press, Hightone Publishing, Visuelle, Bitique, and the Columbus Society of Communicating Arts. He co-founded the brand and design studio Nonfiction in 2018.
